Duncan Spencer is a Chartered fellow of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. After a career spanning 35 years as a Health and Safety professional and consultant in many business sectors including manufacturing, ministry of defence, emergency services, charity sector, NHS, retail, logistics and agriculture. His work has focussed on the UK, Europe and Hong Kong.

Duncan regularly writes articles and blogs for magazines and is a published author. After 10 years leading the safety function at the John Lewis Partnership, he is now the Head of Advice and Practice at IOSH and responsible for research and thought leadership.

Jeff joined what is now AB Agri in 1992, as Regional Operations Manager. Following the acquisition of the business by ABF in 1994 he spent 6 years working in IT as Operations Systems Manager – with a brief stint in China in 1996 , before moving to the Health Safety and Environment role in 2000. Since then the business has grown significantly becoming a global business which now employs 3000 people across 77 sites with operations in China , Poland Denmark , Czech , Finland the USA as well as the UK and Ireland. The business also has a joint venture with Cargill – Frontier Agriculture which is the UK largest grain business with AB Agri being the UK’s largest Agricultural supply business.

The business was the first in the sector to gain accreditation to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 also holds IOS 45001 and UFAS as well as GMP+ and ISO 22000 for the operations in China.

Jeff is chartered member of IOSH and a member of both IEMA an IIRSM he also chairs the Agricultural Supply Industries Safety Forum and he also chairs the Feed Manufacturing Committee which deals with Environmental issues.
